Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens is situated on the slopes of Table Mountain in Cape Town.
It is known to be one of the biggest botanical gardens in Africa. Kirstenbosch holds over 7000 various species are plant life over approximately 528 hectares of land.
Kirstenbosch Gardens was established in 1913 to promote the rich flora diversity within South Africa. The Cape botanical garden known for its flora which is commonly reffered to as Fynbos.
Fynbos includes a variety of various plants species that include sugarbushes, (Proteas / Pincushions and Heaths (Erica's). Kirstenbosch Garden is also popular for its cycads.
The Cycads are over a 1000 years old and are known to fix nitrogen.
